PIPA Training Programme

PIPA has a history of providing a strong training course of its own. In a recent PIPA survey, most information managers supported the concept of an PIPA-run programme, despite the existing commercial courses.

With more regulations, greater commercial pressures and more electronic tools, PIPA aims to draw upon the cutting edge expertise of current Medical Information & Pharmacovigilance practitioners within PIPA.

As a professional association, training and development of its members is an essential function. Therefore the PIPA Training Working Party has developed a new programme, based upon our competency framework.

Suitability

The programme is designed for new entrants to Medical Information or Pharmacovigilance from all types of pharmaceutical companies. Although predominantly aimed at Medical Information personnel, many parts are also relevant to Pharmacovigilance personnel.

The basic training days are ideal for people who have less than one year’s experience in Medical Information. More experienced staff will benefit from the advanced sections of the programme.

Course design

The programme consists of a number of stand-alone training days designed to meet the varying development needs of the PIPA membership.

One day modules are usually held in central London whereas modules that run over 2 days generally held in less central locations to reduce accommodation costs.
